Carlos Almanzar Toribio Arrested; – An individual suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run incident was apprehended following the death of an NYPD officer in a fiery collision on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway on Wednesday morning, as reported by police on Thursday.

Carlos Almanzar Toribio, aged 30, was taken into custody on Wednesday night and faces charges for fleeing the scene of an accident that resulted in death, operating a vehicle without registration, and driving without a license plate, according to the NYPD.

The 30-year-old officer was traveling westbound on a Yamaha R1 on the BQE when he was hit by a box truck near the Atlantic Avenue exit at approximately 8:30 a.m., as stated by police. The motorcycle subsequently crashed into a wall and ignited in flames.

The officer was quickly transported to the hospital but unfortunately could not be saved. His identity has not been disclosed as of Thursday.

Almanzar Toribio was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Brooklyn. His arraignment was scheduled for Thursday.
