Gregory Doyle Sweeten Obituary, Death; – On Thursday, officials revealed the identity of the man who succumbed to gunfire earlier this week near Lake Street in Minneapolis, an incident that also left six others injured.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that Gregory Doyle Sweeten, 35, was fatally shot in the head by a rifle on Clinton Avenue S., just north of E. Lake Street, early Tuesday afternoon.

Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced that two individuals have been apprehended for their involvement in aiding the shooter, although the actual gunman remains at large. As of Thursday morning, no charges have been filed against these two suspects.

This incident was succeeded by another mass shooting the following day at Annunciation Church and School, where 23-year-old Robin Westman opened fire, resulting in the deaths of two students and injuries to 17 others who were attending mass. Westman subsequently took his own life.

The shooting on Tuesday occurred around 1:30 p.m. on a sidewalk directly across from Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. According to O’Hara, five men and one woman sustained injuries. Three of the victims were reported to be in critical condition, but all are anticipated to survive.

O’Hara stated that the suspect exited a vehicle and discharged approximately 30 rounds from a high-velocity .223-caliber rifle while the victims were on the sidewalk. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, and it is believed that they acted independently.

The chief indicated that at least one individual within the group was specifically targeted.
