Jonathan Spofford Obituary, Death; – A man lost his life when a pickup truck collided head-on with his minivan early Tuesday morning in Minot, Maine.

According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a serious two-vehicle accident in the 700 block of Center Minot Hill Road at approximately 5:36 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a black Chevrolet Silverado and a gold Mercury minivan.

Initial investigations indicate that the pickup truck was heading northbound on the road when it veered across the centerline and struck the minivan, which was traveling southbound. This collision resulted in critical injuries to the driver of the minivan, identified as 48-year-old Jonathan Spofford from Hebron.

Officials reported that Spofford was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, 39-year-old Dylan Conlon from Norway, did not sustain any injuries in the crash, according to officials.

Center Minot Hill Road was closed between Marston Hill Road and Woodman Hill Road for nearly five hours while authorities conducted an investigation at the scene.

It remains unclear what led Conlon to cross into the opposing lane of traffic, or if any charges will be brought against him. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
