CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — Authorities have confirmed the identity of the truck driver who died in a fatal crash Wednesday morning in Canandaigua. The victim was Jonathan Stills, 40, a resident of Lima. The accident occurred on State Route 5&20 at the intersection with Hickox Road, leaving the local community in shock.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Stills was driving a box truck westbound on Route 5&20 when he failed to stop at a red light. The truck collided with an SUV turning onto 5&20 from Hickox Road. The impact caused the truck to crash into a utility pole and overturn onto its roof, trapping Stills inside. Emergency responders attempted to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV carried a child passenger who was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with shoulder pain; the SUV driver was unharmed. No evidence of drugs or alcohol involvement has been reported.
