WESTMINSTER, S.C. — The Oconee County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred early Thursday morning, August 28, 2025, near Westminster. The crash claimed the life of 56-year-old Alan Roger Mason, a lifelong resident of the area.
According to reports, the collision happened on Phillip Lear Road and was first reported to Oconee 911 communications at approximately 4:21 a.m. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene and transported Mason to Prisma Health – Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment. Despite intensive medical efforts, Mason passed away at 9:49 a.m. in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
The Oconee County Coroner’s Office has classified the manner of death as accidental. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash, and additional details will be provided by their spokesperson as the inquiry continues.
