CHICAGO — The Chicago community is mourning the tragic death of 25-year-old Amanda, affectionately known as “Manda,” whose life was cut short in a double shooting late Friday night.
According to Chicago Police, officers responded just before midnight on Friday, August 29, 2025, to reports of gunfire near 77th Street and Essex Avenue. Inside a residence, they discovered Amanda suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.
A second victim, a 23-year-old woman, was also shot during the incident and remains in fair condition. Police reported that the alleged female offender initially fled the scene on foot but was later taken into custody.
Amanda, lovingly called “Manda” by those closest to her, is being remembered as a bright light whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Friends and family say her loss has left a devastating void, not only within their circle but across the broader community now grieving alongside them.
Her memory, loved ones emphasize, will continue to live on in the love she shared and the impact she made in her short but meaningful life.
As the investigation continues, Chicago unites in honoring Amanda’s legacy and mourning the senseless violence that claimed her life.
