Darrell Sandusky Obituary, Death; – Authorities have disclosed the identity of the individual who was fatally stabbed on Thursday night in Holland Township.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has identified him as 52-year-old Darrell Sandusky from Park Township. An autopsy determined that his death was a homicide.
According to deputies, two additional adults were also victims of stabbing: a 24-year-old man, who remained in critical condition in the hospital as of Friday morning, and a 55-year-old woman, who has been discharged from the hospital but is still receiving care.
The sheriff’s office stated in a release, “It has been established that a 25-year-old man from Holland Township was responsible and has been interviewed by detectives.” They added, “This individual was detained at the scene but has since been released as the investigation is ongoing.”
As of Friday morning, deputies reported that no charges had been filed.
They indicated that the stabbing arose from a “domestic dispute” and that all parties involved were acquainted with one another. The sheriff’s office noted that the 25-year-old man resided at the location of the stabbing — a home in the Leisure Estates mobile home community, situated off Butternut Drive north of James Street — while the three stabbing victims did not live there.
Deputies have not clarified the exact circumstances leading to the stabbing. When inquired via email whether investigators were considering self-defense as a potential motive, Capt. Jake Sparks from the sheriff’s office responded: “We are exploring all possibilities and continue to work on the case.”
