Diane Bunker Obituary, Death; – A hiker tragically lost her life earlier this week after stumbling and falling on the Highline Trail in Glacier National Park.
According to park officials, 73-year-old Diane Bunker from Muscatine, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday due to a 450-foot fall that occurred between Big Bend and Triple Arches.
Staff received a report at approximately 11 a.m. indicating that a woman — later identified as Bunker — was hiking with a large group when she tripped and fell off the edge of the trail, becoming out of sight from her companions.
Two Bear Air was dispatched to the location, where they located and subsequently recovered Bunker’s body from below the trail. She suffered traumatic injuries, as stated in a news release.
The Going-to-the-Sun Road was temporarily closed from Logan Pass to Big Bend for about an hour while the recovery of the victim’s body took place.
