HONOLULU, HI — Two men remain hospitalized in serious condition following a brutal knife attack at a Sheridan Street bar earlier this month, an incident that culminated in the arrest of 51-year-old Kenneth Bounlangsy last Friday.
The attack occurred on Saturday, August 9th, in the bar’s back room near the intersection of Sheridan and S. King Street. According to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), Bounlangsy became involved in a heated dispute with the two victims, aged 27 and 29, which quickly escalated into violence. Allegedly, Bounlangsy produced a knife and stabbed both men multiple times, inflicting life-threatening injuries before fleeing the scene.
Emergency responders transported the victims to a nearby hospital, where they remain under critical care. Authorities described the attack as “sudden and ferocious,” leaving the community shaken in the aftermath.
After a nearly two-week manhunt, HPD located and arrested Bounlangsy on Friday at 12:30 p.m., booking him on two counts of first-degree assault. His bail has been set at $100,000, and the case is now moving through the legal system.
HPD detectives publicly named Bounlangsy as their prime suspect on August 20th, following tireless investigative work that included reviewing surveillance footage and gathering witness statements. His arrest has brought a measure of relief to residents still grappling with the shock of the violent attack.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities continue to appeal to anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward.
