J Jesus Linares Obituary, Death; Jefferson man killed in two-vehicle crash on Athens Highway

J Jesus Linares Obituary, Death; – A man from Jefferson lost his life, and another man from Gainesville sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident that occurred southeast of Gainesville on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, investigators found that J. Jesus Linares, 56, from Jefferson, was operating a 2009 Nissan Sentra eastbound in the westbound lane of Athens Highway on U.S. 129 when he collided head-on with a 2013 GMC Sierra near Morgan Drive at approximately 1 p.m.

Both Linares and the driver of the pickup truck, identified as Reginald Borders, 61, from Gainesville, were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Unfortunately, Linares was declared dead at the hospital, as reported by HCSO.

It was determined that Linares was the driver at fault in the accident. The northbound lane of Athens Highway was closed to traffic for about an hour while the scene of the accident was cleared.
