Tybius Andrews Fatally Stabbed in Tallahassee; Girlfriend Charged with Second-Degree Murder

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — 34-year-old Tybius Andrews tragically lost his life in a fatal stabbing on July 25, 2025, at the Talla-Villa Apartments on East Magnolia Drive, authorities confirmed. Despite the immediate efforts of first responders, Andrews was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a month-long investigation, Tallahassee Police have arrested 37-year-old Landy Hayes, Andrews’ girlfriend, charging her with second-degree murder. Hayes initially claimed the stabbing was accidental, alleging that a struggle over a knife ended with Andrews impaling himself. However, forensic evidence and a detailed review of her account contradicted her story, showing the fatal wound could not have been self-inflicted.

Investigators meticulously gathered evidence from the apartment, interviewed witnesses, and identified inconsistencies in Hayes’ statements, ultimately concluding that the attack was intentional. Hayes was taken into custody on August 28, 2025, and is being held at the Leon County Jail pending her first court appearance.

Authorities emphasized that the case demonstrates the critical role of forensic investigation in uncovering the truth. “This was not the tragic accident she claimed,” a police spokesperson stated. “Our investigators were committed to ensuring justice for Tybius Andrews.”

The Tallahassee community is grappling with the shock of the violent death, mourning Andrews while authorities prepare to pursue a full legal case against Hayes.
