DECATUR, Ala. — The Decatur community is mourning the loss of Tavoras Antwan Coffman, 40, of Athens, who tragically lost his life in a wreck early Saturday morning.
According to the Decatur Police Department, the crash happened around 6:24 a.m. at the intersection of Beltline Road SW and Carridale Street SW. Emergency crews from DPD, Decatur Fire, and EMS responded to the scene and found two vehicles involved in the collision.
Despite their efforts, Coffman was pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn. His passenger was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital with serious injuries, while the driver of the second vehicle was also transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Family, friends, and community members are left heartbroken by the sudden loss of Coffman, who is remembered as a beloved presence in the lives of those who knew him. The Decatur Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the wreck as loved ones grieve this unimaginable tragedy.
