Barbara Benson Obituary, Death; – The Dover Police Department is currently conducting a search for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run incident that occurred early Sunday, resulting in the death of a 62-year-old woman.
Authorities report that they were first alerted shortly after 2:45 a.m. on August 31 regarding a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle on North DuPont Highway. Upon their arrival, officers discovered and identified the victim as 62-year-old Barbara Benson. Unfortunately, Benson succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Subsequently, officers learned that a vehicle had collided with Benson and fled the scene without stopping at approximately 2:20 a.m., nearly thirty minutes prior to the authorities being notified, as stated by officials. The investigation that followed reportedly indicated that a black Toyota Avalon was traveling south in the right lane of North DuPont Highway when it struck Benson.
Investigators have identified the suspect as Aaliyah Graves, a 24-year-old resident of Chestertown, Maryland. Although the Toyota has been found in Worton, Maryland, the whereabouts of Graves remain unknown, and arrest warrants have been issued for her apprehension.
