The Greensboro College community, along with countless friends, students, and colleagues, is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Professor William Perry Morgan, a beloved educator, artist, and mentor who tragically passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, following a car accident in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was 64 years old.
Professor Morgan served as the Theatre Professor and Director of the Musical Theatre Program at Greensboro College, where he devoted his life to nurturing talent and inspiring creativity. With his remarkable vision for the stage and his unwavering dedication to his students, he left an indelible mark not only on the college but also on the wider theatre community. He believed in the transformative power of art and was deeply committed to fostering both the professional and personal growth of those he taught.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, William was remembered as a kindhearted soul with a generous spirit. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued, whether in the classroom, on stage, or in everyday conversation. His laughter, wisdom, and encouragement created a safe space for expression and growth that his students will never forget.
The loss of Professor Morgan leaves a void that words cannot fully capture. Greensboro College expressed it best in their tribute: he was “deeply loved and respected in the Greensboro College community and the theatre community at large.” His legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched, the performances he brought to life, and the students he guided toward their dreams.
A memorial service will be announced in the coming days to honor his life, his art, and his enduring impact. While his passing is a profound loss, his memory will live on through his work, his students, and the love he gave so freely to all.
Rest in peace, Professor Morgan. Your curtain may have closed here on earth, but your light will shine forever in the hearts of those who knew you.
