Lashea Bell, Aniah Bell Obituary, Death; Driver accused in deadly Kansas crash moved from hospital to jail

Lashea Bell, Aniah Bell Obituary, Death; – Police apprehended an 80-year-old woman in relation to a weekend accident that resulted in the deaths of two women from Wichita.

At around 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, officers were dispatched to a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Central and Webb Road in Wichita, as reported by Officer Kris Gupilan. A black Chevrolet truck heading east on Central collided with a white BMW and a gray Jeep, both of which were traveling south on Webb.

Inside the BMW were Lashea Bell, 42, and her passenger Aniah Bell, 25, both residents of Wichita. Lashea Bell was declared dead at the scene, while Aniah Bell was taken to a nearby hospital, where she subsequently passed away, according to Gupilan.

The 41-year-old male driver of the Jeep received treatment at the scene and was released. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified from Sedgwick County booking records as Ann Clowie McLaughlin, was transported to a local hospital with injuries. An officer remained with her, and after she was medically cleared, McLaughlin was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges that include two counts of second-degree homicide.

It is believed that speed and alcohol contributed to this accident.

The case will be forwarded to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
