The South Huntington community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Mason Kraese, a devoted firefighter with the Huntington Manor Fire Department, who tragically passed away in an accident. Mason’s death has left his family, friends, and colleagues devastated, as tributes pour in for a young man remembered for his selflessness, kindness, and vibrant spirit.

Born and raised in South Huntington, New York, Mason attended Walt Whitman High School, where he was known for his energy, humor, and ability to light up any room with his smile. He went on to serve his community with dedication as a firefighter at the Huntington Manor Fire Department, answering countless calls and protecting lives and property with courage.

His colleagues described him as a true brother, someone whose passion for the job and unwavering commitment to helping others embodied the spirit of service. The department’s Chief’s office shared a moving statement: “It is with deep sadness the Chiefs office regrets to announce that Firefighter Mason Kraese has answered his last alarm. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kraese and Steenson families. Rest in Peace brother, you will be missed.”

In addition to his service as a firefighter, Mason also worked as a proud member of the Steamfitters Local Union 638, further reflecting his dedication to hard work, teamwork, and community. Mary Beth, Phil Kraese, Gunnar and Colton, I love you all so much. I am so, so, so sorry for this devastating loss.”
