Authorities are after investigating after two people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide that occurred late Monday night in Dora, Alabama. On Monday, September 1, 2025, at approximately 11:41 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 3500 block of White Road, Dora, Alabama.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a 51-year-old female victim and a 55-year-old male suspect, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Corner Fire & Rescue pronounced both individuals deceased at the scene. The suspect has been identified as Elton James Barks. Investigation is actively ongoing.
