Dorothy Heaton Obituary, Death; – The South Dakota Highway Patrol has disclosed the identities of four individuals involved in a four-vehicle collision that occurred last week in Hand County.

The incident took place on U.S. Highway 14, approximately six miles east of Highmore, at 346th Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. Three motorcycles were traveling westbound when a Chevrolet pickup, operated by 45-year-old Adam Ray from Huron, crossed the centerline and entered the path of the motorcycles.

The first motorcyclist, 78-year-old Marvyn Heaton from Redfield, managed to evade the pickup. The second motorcyclist, 77-year-old Dorothy Heaton, also from Redfield, was struck head-on by the pickup. The third motorcyclist, 70-year-old Sherrie Johnson from Tulare, avoided the pickup by steering into the ditch. Johnson suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

Marvyn Heaton emerged unscathed, while Dorothy Heaton tragically lost her life in the incident. Ray was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. Johnson was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, whereas the Heatons were not wearing helmets.
