Alpharetta Murder-Suicide: The victim, identified as Grace Choi, was a teacher at Mount Pisgah Christian School

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Police are investigating a tragic murder-suicide in north Fulton County after a man allegedly shot and killed his wife before taking his own life earlier this week.

The incident happened inside a home on St. Ives Country Club Drive in Johns Creek. When officers arrived, they found two people dead from gunshot wounds.

Authorities identified the victim as Grace Choi, a respected biology and chemistry teacher at Mount Pisgah Christian School. Choi, who studied at the University of Georgia’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, was remembered as a devoted educator and a gifted violinist who shared her love for both science and music with her students.

The suspect has been identified as her husband, Dr. James Choi, a well-known dentist in the community. He studied dental technology at UCLA and owned Maven Dental Studio, where he built a reputation for his skill and professionalism.

Investigators believe James Choi fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. The Johns Creek Police Department and Alpharetta Police are working jointly on the case.

Both Grace and James Choi were of Chinese origin and were regarded by many as accomplished professionals dedicated to their respective fields.

Mount Pisgah Christian School is expected to provide grief counseling and support for students and faculty in the coming days as the school community processes the devastating loss.
