The comic book community in Maryland is mourning the loss of Randy Myers, the owner and founder of Collectors Corner, a beloved comic shop that has served fans and collectors for more than two decades.
In a statement shared by Collectors Corner, staff confirmed Randy’s passing with what they described as “deep and profound sadness.”
“Randy and the stores that he has created have meant so much to so many and touched many lives. He has laughed and cried with many of you, and shared in all of your joy and sadness. He has always been grateful and thankful for all of you,” the message read.
Myers opened Collectors Corner in September 2001 on Harford Road in Parkville, building what would become one of the largest and most respected comic shops in the region. Over the years, the store expanded, offering not just comics but also retro video games, manga, DVDs, posters, t-shirts, and a wide array of collectibles.
Known for its extensive subscription service and massive back-issue catalog, Collectors Corner became more than just a retail space — it was a sanctuary for fans, a community hub where friendships were formed, and a cornerstone of Maryland’s comic culture.
Continuing His Legacy
Store representatives say they intend to continue Myers’ dream and keep his legacy alive by maintaining the sense of community he fostered.
“This is a place that is more than a store. You all are friends, family, and cherished CC Army members. Moving forward, we will only share in the joy and memories that Randy has brought to all of us,” the statement continued.
The Bel Air location will reopen on Tuesday, September 2, with efforts underway to reopen the Parkville store as soon as possible.
For the countless fans, customers, and friends who passed through Collectors Corner’s doors over the years, Randy Myers’ impact will live on in the community he built — a place where comic books brought people together, and where every visitor felt like part of a family.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
