Shawn Glen Blake,Hailey Nicole Blake Obituary, Death;- A 16-year-old girl and her father were tragically shot and killed on Monday afternoon at a park in Liberty City, in what authorities believe to be a targeted attack, according to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office.

Hailey Nicole Blake and her father, Shawn Glen Blake, aged 49, succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the incident at Hugh Camp Memorial Park.

The sheriff’s office reported that a man, who is thought to be the girl’s boyfriend and has been identified as Christopher Wayne Hicks Jr., was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries that appeared to be self-inflicted.

Law enforcement was summoned to the park on Monday afternoon regarding a shooting involving multiple victims. Upon arrival, officers, along with Christus EMS and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, initiated life-saving measures for the victims, as stated by the sheriff’s office.

“At this moment, it is believed that this was a targeted attack rather than a random act of violence,” Chief Deputy Craig Harrington mentioned in a press release issued on Tuesday. “There were no additional injuries reported at the park aside from the three individuals involved.”

The sheriff’s office indicated that two off-duty first responders were present at the park and provided assistance to the victims, although they were not part of the altercation.

The sheriff’s office is urging any witnesses to the shooting or anyone with relevant information to reach out to them.
