The Hickory community and beyond are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Elijah Jenks, a 23-year-old from Granite Quarry, NC, whose life was tragically cut short in a motorcycle accident on Friday, August 29, 2025.
Elijah had a love for life and a fearless spirit that was reflected in his passion for riding. Friends and family describe him as kindhearted, adventurous, and always willing to lend a hand. His laughter could fill a room, and his energy was contagious to all who knew him.
According to the Hickory Police Department, the crash occurred around 10:20 p.m. on US Hwy 70 SE, when his 2020 Kawasaki motorcycle veered off the road and collided with parked vehicles at Cloninger Ford. Despite the immediate efforts of first responders, Elijah was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Elijah’s family is now left to carry his memory forward, holding tight to the moments they shared and the love he gave so freely. As the investigation continues, the Hickory Police Department is asking anyone with information to reach out to Sgt. Amanda Efird at 828-328-5551.
