HAZEL PARK, Mich. — Heartbreak has gripped the Hazel Park community following the devastating deaths of 41-year-old Linda Hill and her 12-year-old son, Kardi Jackson, in what police are investigating as a double homicide.

The tragic discovery was made late Monday afternoon when officers responded to the family’s home on Berdeno Avenue. Both Linda and Kardi were found with fatal injuries, leaving their loved ones and neighbors stunned and in deep sorrow.

Family members describe Linda as a joyful, kindhearted woman who loved to bring laughter and positivity to those around her. Her young son, Kardi, was remembered as full of promise, a boy whose life was cruelly taken before it had the chance to truly begin.

“She wasn’t bothering nobody for real, always fun,” said her son, Damontez Hill, reflecting on Linda’s loving nature. “I don’t even know what would make a person do something like this. It’s messed up.”

According to relatives, Linda and Kardi were expected at a Labor Day gathering that day but never arrived. A family member revealed that Linda had been on the phone with someone from the party when the suspected killer entered the home. The call suddenly went silent, and moments later tragedy struck.

Instead of returning to school after the holiday, Kardi’s classmates are now mourning his sudden and heartbreaking loss. The Hazel Park School District has since reached out to families, offering resources and prayers for those struggling to cope with the shocking news.

As the investigation continues, police are working to develop suspect information. For now, the Hill and Jackson families are left to navigate unimaginable grief as they prepare to lay Linda and Kardi to rest.
