Corydon, Iowa – The world was blessed with the arrival of Harrison Joel Roe on May 26, 2010, the first-born grandchild on both sides of his family. Though his time on earth was brief—just 15 years—his purpose was fulfilled, and God called him home on September 1, 2025.
A Complex and Beautiful Soul
Harrison was a boy who was perfectly complex—laid back with an amazing sense of humor, yet grounded by strong values. He was wise beyond his years, yet remained innocent and pure. Harrison was both private and open, enjoying his quiet moments but also finding joy in meaningful conversations. His sensitive nature was balanced by his quick ability to forgive, and his logical mind worked in tandem with his deep imagination. He carried himself with a quiet strength and humility, never complaining and always holding himself to high standards. Harrison was dedicated to truth, understanding, and integrity, traits that were recognized by his peers and teachers. His outstanding academic achievements were a testament to his hard work and commitment, being recognized as one of the top three students in his class.
The Joys of Life
Harrison’s life was filled with simple joys, and it’s in these moments that he thrived. He delighted in holidays, family gatherings, board games, rainy days, and long walks. He found happiness in laughter, food, and playing video games, all while cherishing the company of his beloved dogs, Ruby and Copper. Though he had a witty and clever sense of humor, Harrison was also a serious thinker. His inner world was vast and brilliant, filled with questions and a thirst for knowledge. He loved reading, especially the Eragon series, which transported him to worlds as rich and intricate as his own thoughts. Harrison’s inquisitive nature led him to explore ideas, ponder deeply, and seek perspectives from others. Above all, his love for his family, friends, and God was unwavering and central to who he was.
Faith and Life
Though Harrison battled cancer, his family notes that he did not want to be remembered as a sad story of illness, but rather as someone who lived fully and faithfully. His relationship with God was significant to him, a faith that was not shallow but instead deeply earned through wrestling with questions, struggles, and ultimately trusting in His plan. Harrison’s family encourages everyone to remember his life not by the tragedy of his passing, but by the incredible way he lived—as a child of God who loved life, his family, and his faith.
Harrison’s spirit lives on in heaven, where he now rests with the Lord. While most people need a lifetime to fulfill their calling, Harrison accomplished his in just 15 short years. His family finds peace knowing that his soul continues to live on in the hearts of those who were touched by him.
Survived by His Family
Harrison is deeply loved and missed by his parents, Matt (Sierra) Roe and Jocelyn Wells; his siblings, Sawyer and August; his grandparents, Joel (Bonita) Wells and Randy (Grace Ann) Roe; and his great-grandmother, Lenora Couchman. Though Harrison is no longer with them in physical form, his love, humor, and wisdom will continue to guide and inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorial Service and Burial
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Wayne Community High School Gymnasium. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A private burial will follow at the Corydon Cemetery at a later date.
