FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. — The search for a missing child in Fayette County has ended in heartbreak. Authorities confirmed Thursday morning that 9-year-old Renesmay Eutsey, who was reported missing from Dunbar Borough on Wednesday, was found dead in the Youghiogheny River near Smithton.
Pennsylvania State Police said the girl’s adoptive parent, 31-year-old Kourtney Malinda Eutsey of Dunbar, has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with her death.
Renesmay was last seen early Wednesday in the area of 3rd Street, and an overnight search involving drones, K-9 units, and specialized teams was launched after she was reported missing nearly 12 hours later. Investigators noted conflicting details in the timeline of her disappearance.
Officials said Renesmay had developmental disabilities and was considered at special risk of harm.
The case remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police and the Fayette County District Attorney’s Office.
