Deputies responded to the couple’s residence on 102nd Avenue Southeast after receiving a welfare check request. Inside, they discovered both David and Sontaya deceased. Officials confirmed no one else was present, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will release official autopsy results to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The couple, married for more than 17 years, had lived in the community for several years. Neighbors described them as friendly but private, expressing shock and heartbreak at the tragedy.

Sontaya, originally from Bangkok, Thailand, had an impressive educational and professional background, studying at Pacific Lutheran University and later working at Zurich Insurance, where colleagues remembered her as compassionate and dedicated.

The incident has left the quiet suburban neighborhood grieving the sudden loss of two longtime residents. Authorities urge anyone struggling with mental health or relationship challenges to seek support. Help is available through the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 and the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
