Magdeburg, Germany – Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred today in the city of Magdeburg.

According to initial reports, the suspect, identified as a Syrian asylum seeker, attacked a woman in a pedestrian area. Witnesses said the victim attempted to flee as the suspect chased her through the street. She reportedly tried to escape into a nearby building, where she was stabbed.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the woman was later pronounced dead from her injuries. Police have since taken the suspect into custody.

Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim, and the motive behind the attack remains under investigation. Authorities said there is no ongoing danger to the public.
