Melvin Presley Obituary, Death; – Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies have identified a 40-year-old suspect, Melvin Presley, who died following a shooting incident on Saturday in Dania Beach.

Additionally, BSO deputies recognized a 19-year-old man, Justin Kessel, who sustained injuries on Saturday night outside a 7-Eleven located at 800 Stirling Road.

According to a statement released on Monday by Gerdy St. Louis, a spokeswoman for BSO, “The shooting occurred after separate armed robberies.”

BSO has identified the victims as a man and a store clerk. St. Louis’s statement indicates that Kessel robbed the man at gunpoint in the parking lot and the clerk inside the store.

St. Louis noted, “Witnesses report that Kessel ran back toward the male robbery victim, who had retrieved a firearm from his vehicle.” Detectives stated that the victim fired multiple shots, injuring Kessel.

Presley, who was driving a gray 2025 Honda CR-V, attempted to run over the robbery victim, who then shot him, as reported by BSO deputies. Presley fled the scene, but detectives later found him injured in the Honda along Phippen Waiters Road.

St. Louis wrote, “Presley suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported by paramedics to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment. He was subsequently pronounced deceased.” She added, “The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the robbery that led to the shooting is still active and ongoing.”
