Andrew “Cole” Jackson, age 21, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away on September 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure that touched the lives of all who knew him. Though his years were far too short, Cole lived them with passion and authenticity, embracing every moment with an open heart and an adventurous spirit.
Early Life and Education
Cole grew up in Griffin, Georgia, where he was known for his kindness, quick wit, and bright smile that could instantly lift the mood of any room he entered. After graduating from high school, he pursued higher education at Gordon State College, earning his Associate’s Degree in Business.
Driven and hardworking, Cole quickly embarked on his career path, joining Farmers Insurance as a property claims adjuster. There, he dedicated himself to helping others during times of need, and just recently celebrated his one-year work anniversary, a milestone he was proud to achieve.
Family and Loved Ones
Cole’s life was deeply rooted in his love for family. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Angela Matthews; great-grandmother, Florence Jackson; great-grandfather, Kenneth Suttles; and great-grandmother, Mini Ruth Butler. He is survived by his devoted parents, Brook and Sandy Jackson; his brother and closest confidant, Dylan Jackson; grandparents, Joey and Terri Butler and Craig Jackson; uncle, Kevin Butler; aunt, Amanda Matthews; as well as a host of other extended family members and cherished friends.
Cole’s family was his foundation, and he in turn was a source of joy and inspiration to them. His selflessness, sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty will forever remain etched in their hearts.
A Spirit of Music and Creativity
From an early age, Cole discovered the joy of music. At just eleven years old, he picked up a guitar and began a lifelong journey of playing and singing. Music became one of his greatest passions, and over the years, he shared this gift generously with those around him. Whether performing with friends in local bands, strumming his guitar during late-night gatherings, or simply filling his home with melodies, Cole’s music was an extension of his soul. His talent was undeniable, but it was the joy he brought to others through song that truly defined his gift.
Adventures on the Road
Cole’s adventurous nature found its fullest expression in his love of travel. With an old but reliable champagne-colored 2002 Mercury—affectionately known among his friends as “The Merc”—he set out to explore the beauty of the United States. It was a dream he had nurtured since high school graduation, and he turned it into reality with determination and excitement.
His travels took him across deserts, mountains, and national parks. He marveled at the Arizona landscapes, gazed in awe at the Teton Range in Wyoming, wandered through Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks, explored Joshua Tree and Carlsbad Caverns, and most recently camped at Big Bend National Park along the Rio Grande. Whether camping in his tent, sleeping in “The Merc,” or staying with friends along the way, Cole lived for the freedom of the open road and the wonder of discovering new places.
Hobbies and Personal Passions
When he wasn’t traveling or making music, Cole enjoyed simple pleasures that reflected his love of life. He could often be found fishing, practicing Jiu Jitsu, or spending quality time with his family and friends. Many fond memories were made during impromptu jam sessions or lighthearted martial arts lessons, where Cole’s humor and playfulness always took center stage.
Those who knew him describe him as selfless, goofy, and endlessly kind-hearted. He had a way of making everyone feel valued, and his quick wit kept those around him smiling.
A Celebration of Life
Cole will be remembered not just for the places he went or the music he made, but for the love, laughter, and generosity he gave so freely. His life, though brief, was beautifully full.
A Celebration of Cole’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 14, at the Historic City Hall of Downtown Griffin, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friends and loved ones will gather to share stories, honor his memory, and enjoy live music played by Cole’s friends in tribute to the songs he loved.
Cole’s journey reminds us that life is not measured by years alone, but by the depth of love, joy, and adventure we bring to it. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, his friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
