Hanby Leighton Ingram Punta Gorda, FL Death – The Punta Gorda community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Hanby Leighton Ingram, who tragically passed away on September 10, 2025, at just 17 years old. A vibrant young man with a radiant spirit and a zest for life, Hanby leaves behind cherished memories that will remain etched in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Hanby’s life was deeply connected to the outdoors, where he found both joy and serenity. He had an undeniable passion for nature, spending countless hours duck hunting, fishing, and sailing. The water was his sanctuary—a place where he felt most alive and at peace. His love for sailing reflected his adventurous soul, as he navigated both calm and unpredictable waters with confidence and enthusiasm.
Beyond the water, Hanby held a deep appreciation for family vacations in the mountains of North Carolina. There, surrounded by natural beauty, he found moments of quiet reflection that perfectly matched his thoughtful and appreciative nature.
While adventure called to him, Hanby also found happiness in life’s simpler pleasures. He enjoyed golfing with friends, gaming, and spending quality time with his family. Animals held a special place in his heart; he possessed a natural ability to connect with them, showing compassion and care that reflected his gentle spirit.
At a young age, Hanby’s ambition and dedication shone brightly. Together with his brothers, he launched a landscaping business serving Punta Gorda’s historic downtown district. This entrepreneurial spirit reflected his sense of responsibility, determination, and creativity.
A student at Florida Southwestern Collegiate High School, Hanby excelled academically and built meaningful friendships. He aspired to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering, inspired by his fascination with machinery and problem-solving. His love for working on cars, motors, and engines demonstrated his curiosity and hands-on approach to learning—qualities that set him apart.
Outside of academics, Hanby worked at Publix as a cashier and clerk, where his warmth, humor, and kindness made him a favorite among customers and colleagues alike. Known for his maturity and respect for others, he had a gift for brightening every room he entered with his genuine smile.
Hanby’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of his loved ones. He is survived by his father, Leighton Ingram (Danielle Carraway); his mother, Victoria Goode; his sister, Hunter Ingram; his brothers, Hugh and Harrison Ingram, and Evan, Noah, and Tristan Carraway; his aunt, Christina Daniels (Adam Button); and his cousins, Leighton and Rae Daniels.
A proud multigenerational Floridian, Hanby carried forward his family’s roots while carving out his own unique identity. He will be remembered as intelligent, funny, sensitive, kind, and loyal—a young man whose presence was a gift to all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Life Celebration Center of Punta Gorda. In honor of Hanby’s joyful spirit and love for color, guests are encouraged to wear light and bright clothing, with special recognition of his favorite color, purple.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Hanby’s impact was profound. He will forever be remembered for his adventurous heart, his compassion for others, and his ability to inspire those around him to embrace life fully. His legacy is a reminder to cherish simple moments, pursue passions with enthusiasm, and love generously.
