Amanda Rodriguez Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the individual who fell victim to Cohoes’ first homicide in over two years as 41-year-old Amanda Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was found deceased in her residence on Earl Lynn Court after a friend requested a welfare check on Sunday morning at approximately 9:15 a.m. The concern arose because her mother had not been in contact with her. Officials suspect that Rodriguez may have been murdered on Saturday.
Law enforcement is currently searching for Rodriguez’s boyfriend, 53-year-old Anthony Bechand, who is regarded as a person of interest in her demise. Bechand’s vehicle, a white 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, was present at the scene of Rodriguez’s death but was subsequently discovered in the town of Brighton in Franklin County.
Authorities caution that Bechand may be armed and poses a danger.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place at Ellis Hospital on Monday. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed by officials.
Police have indicated that Bechand has no prior criminal record and is not a native of Cohoes. They advise anyone who encounters him to refrain from approaching and to contact state police without delay.
The investigation remains active, and further updates will be shared as they become available.
