Bossier City Woman Identified in Domestic Violence Tragedy

BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Bossier City community is mourning after authorities confirmed the identity of a woman killed during a violent domestic incident on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The victim has been identified as Tranell Poole, also known to many locally as Manisha.

According to Bossier City police, the events unfolded just after 12:30 p.m. at the Villaggio Apartments in the 5200 block of Venecia Drive. The incident began when a man contacted his family, claiming he was suicidal and admitting that he had harmed his girlfriend. Alarmed, his family alerted authorities, setting in motion a tense and ultimately tragic series of events.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they quickly learned that the suspect had barricaded himself inside. He reportedly threatened to shoot anyone who attempted to enter. Because of the escalating danger, the Bossier City Police Department SWAT team was called to the scene.

During the confrontation, two officers were injured. One sustained a gunshot wound, while another was hurt while deploying a flash bang device. Thankfully, both officers were transported to a local hospital and are expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries.

Inside the apartment, officers discovered that Poole had been shot by the suspect. Despite efforts to save her life, she was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Her death has left family members, friends, and the broader community devastated.

Sgt. Shawn Poudrier, spokesperson for the department, described the harrowing situation:

“Officers responded to the scene. There was a male subject barricaded inside an apartment. He told our dispatch that there was another family member inside. Officers attempted to make entry and were injured during that process. They were transported to a local medical facility to ensure they were okay.”

The Bossier City Police Department has not yet released the suspect’s name or further details about charges, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. Officials emphasized that this case serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the severe risks associated with domestic violence, which often involves cycles of abuse, manipulation, and escalating threats.

For many in the community, Poole’s tragic death highlights the urgent need for awareness and support around intimate partner violence. Friends described her as a warm, caring individual whose life was cut short far too soon.
