Brian Irons Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the Pennsylvania man who lost his life in a motorcycle accident on September 13 in Millsboro.
Brian Irons, aged 52, was involved in the tragic incident after his Honda motorcycle collided with a vehicle, as reported by the Delaware State Police. The resident of York was reportedly traveling at “a high rate of speed” after disregarding a red traffic signal. By the morning of September 15, law enforcement had disclosed his identity.
The accident occurred around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Dupont Boulevard, also known as U.S. 113, and Centerview Drive. According to police, Irons was heading north when he failed to halt for the red light and entered the intersection.
Simultaneously, a Chevrolet Malibu operated by a 21-year-old man from Millsboro had the green light and was proceeding west through the intersection, as stated by authorities. It was determined that the motorcycle struck the left front side of the car, resulting in the rider being thrown from the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet certified by the Department of Transportation, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Malibu was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening and was subsequently released.
Dupont Boulevard remained closed for over three hours while the Collision Reconstruction Unit of the Delaware State Police conducted their investigation.
