Israel Vasquez Obituary, Death;- A tragedy struck the family of a man from Phoenix when he and his two young grandsons lost their lives in a single-vehicle accident last week.
The event took place on Interstate 10 in Buckeye, Arizona, on the evening of Thursday, September 11, as reported by authorities and local news affiliates including NBC’s KPNX, Fox’s KSAZ, and ABC’s KNXV.
According to reports, five individuals sustained injuries in the vehicle after it overturned, with three of them ultimately succumbing to their injuries.
The authorities have identified the three deceased individuals as Israel Vasquez, aged 48, along with his two grandsons. In an interview with KNXV, Carlos Saldana, the father of the two boys, shared that his sons, Emiliano, aged 9, and Carlos Antonio, aged 6, were the victims. “I was awakened at midnight by a phone call from their mother, who was in a state of hysteria,” Saldana recounted to KNXV. “All she could express was, ‘I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what happened.’ ”
In a GoFundMe campaign, Kyara Vasquez, the daughter of Israel Vasquez, stated that her father, mother, brother, and two nephews were traveling from Tonopah to Phoenix when the tragic incident occurred.
“She survived but sustained severe injuries: her entire left side is fractured, and she faces multiple surgeries along with a lengthy and painful recovery,” Kyara mentioned regarding her mother. “My 15-year-old brother survived but has a serious back injury and will require round-the-clock care once he is discharged from the hospital.”
“The boys’ mother—my sister—is a single parent with a single income,” Kyara continued. “In an instant, she lost both of her children, her whole world, and is now left to cope with this unimaginable sorrow. Her life has been irrevocably altered, and the anguish she experiences is something no parent should ever have to face.”
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) indicated that, according to a preliminary investigation, it appears that no one in the vehicle was wearing their seatbelts, as reported by local media outlets.
In a conversation with KNXV, Saldana recalled that the troopers informed him that his sons had been ejected from their seats and did not survive. He emphasized the importance of taking seatbelt usage more seriously.
As of Monday, Sept. 15, the GoFundMe for funeral and medical expenses on behalf of the family has generated over $18.
NEWSCHAIN contacted the DPS and Kyara for comment on Monday.
