Olaf’s death has left his loved ones, colleagues, and community deeply shaken, as they come to terms with the loss of a man remembered for his warmth, devotion to family, and professional excellence.

Born and raised in Illinois, Olaf pursued his education at the University of Illinois Chicago, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Information Decision Science.

His strong academic foundation paved the way for a successful career in technology, where he built a reputation as a skilled and dedicated professional in the field of software quality assurance and engineering.

Olaf’s career was marked by steady growth and accomplishments. He began as a Data Analyst at Runzheimer in Waterford, Wisconsin, where he worked from 2015 to 2017 before transitioning into a Software Quality Assurance Analyst role at the same company.

His attention to detail and problem-solving skills quickly set him apart. From there, he went on to serve as a Software Quality Assurance Analyst at Bader Rutter on contract from 2018 to 2019, and later joined Laughlin Constable as a Quality Engineer, further honing his expertise.

In April 2020, Olaf joined Northwestern Mutual as a Test Engineer, where he spent more than five years contributing to projects within the financial services industry.

His colleagues admired his knowledge of modern tools such as Node.js, WebdriverIO, Javascript, SQL, and Playwright, and they valued his thoughtful approach, professionalism, and dedication to excellence. Olaf was not only an engineer but also a mentor, collaborator, and friend to many in the workplace.

While his professional life was filled with achievements, Olaf’s greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lauren Stieber, and their two young children, who were the center of his world.

His role as a devoted husband and father brought him the most pride, and those closest to him describe him as a man who poured love, patience, and kindness into his home.

Olaf is also deeply mourned by his parents, Grazyna and Peter Stieber, who cherished him as a son, and by his siblings, including his sister, who expressed her heartbreak at losing her brother after sharing 40 years of memories together, and his brother, Lucas, who also grieves this unimaginable loss.

His family remembers him as a man who was both strong and gentle, someone whose laughter could brighten a room and whose presence brought comfort to all around him.
