Taylor, TX – Authorities have released the identity of a young man who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash Friday evening in Taylor. Police confirmed that the victim was Billy LaFrance, 24, of Jarrell.
According to Taylor police, the fatal crash happened at approximately 5:56 p.m. in the 13400 block of Chandler Road, near County Road 366. Preliminary findings indicate that LaFrance was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Chandler Road when it collided with a white 2021 Toyota Corolla attempting to turn south onto County Road 366.
Emergency crews from Williamson County EMS were the first to arrive at the scene and immediately began lifesaving efforts. Sadly, despite their best attempts, LaFrance was pronounced dead at the site of the collision.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as Melany Espana, 23, of Arlington, sustained minor injuries in the crash. She was transported to Scott and White Hospital in Taylor for evaluation and treatment.
Taylor police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to determine the contributing factors in the collision. Officials have not released further information regarding possible citations or charges.
The tragic crash marks the second fatal traffic collision reported in Taylor so far this year, prompting renewed calls for drivers to exercise caution at busy intersections in the area.
