Police Identify Jeremy Ives as Pedestrian Killed in Colorado Springs Hit-and-Run; Suspect Arrested

Authorities have identified 28-year-old Jeremy Ives as the pedestrian who died in a fatal crash earlier this month near Old Colorado City. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) confirmed that the suspected driver has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The crash occurred on Sept. 5, shortly after 10:30 p.m., near the intersection of Highway 24 and 26th Street. Responding officers from CSPD, the Colorado State Patrol, and the Colorado Springs Fire Department found Ives at the scene, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say the driver fled after striking Ives but was later located and taken into custody. The suspect, 59-year-old Cameron Walsh, now faces several charges, including Vehicular Homicide, Driving Under the Influence, Hit and Run, and Driving After Revocation Prohibited.

An autopsy conducted by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office on Sept. 8 confirmed Ives’ identity.

Police noted that Ives’ death is the 41st traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year, compared with 39 at the same point in 2024. Over the last 12 months, the city has recorded 51 traffic-related deaths.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
