The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that occurred early Saturday on Alcoa Highway, leaving one person dead.

Officers were called to the northbound lanes near Woodson Drive just before 4 a.m. following reports of a collision involving a Hyundai sedan and a tractor-trailer.

According to investigators, the driver of the Hyundai — identified as Macii Williams — was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary review indicates the Hyundai was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it struck the tractor-trailer head-on.

The Knoxville Police Department’s crash reconstruction unit is handling the investigation, which remains ongoing. Authorities have not released further details.
