Police have launched an urgent investigation after an 18-year-old man was left in a life-threatening condition following a shooting outside a bar in Wembley in the early hours of Sunday, 21 September.
According to the Metropolitan Police, officers were called shortly after midnight to reports of gunfire on South Way, just a short distance from Wembley Stadium. Emergency services arrived to find the young man with serious gunshot injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to hospital, where he remains in a critical state.
The incident triggered a significant police presence in the area, with South Way sealed off behind a large cordon as detectives and forensic teams examined the scene. Officers were seen combing the street for evidence while uniformed colleagues maintained road closures and reassured members of the public.
In a statement, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that no arrests had been made so far. “Enquiries are ongoing, and we are urging anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward,” they said. Detectives believe there may have been several people in the vicinity at the time and are appealing for witnesses, CCTV, or dashcam footage that could shed light on the circumstances of the attack.
Residents and visitors expressed concern over the violence so close to one of London’s busiest entertainment districts. The shooting has raised questions about public safety in the area, which is often crowded with late-night revellers and visitors heading to and from nearby venues.
Local businesses reported being temporarily affected by the cordon, with access to parts of South Way restricted as officers continued their painstaking enquiries. Police have reassured the community that increased patrols will remain in place to provide visibility and support.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference CAD 1343/21SEP, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Investigators stressed that even small details could prove vital in bringing those responsible to justice.
