Tanner Staggs Obituary, Death;- The individual charged with the shooting death of a landscaper during a dispute regarding grass clippings made an appearance in court on Monday.
Travis Jackson entered a plea of not guilty to multiple charges, including murder, and subsequently was assigned a bond amounting to seven figures.
Jackson was present at his residence on Indiana Avenue last Thursday.
Dunham’s Lawn Care and Landscaping confirmed that the victim was Tanner Staggs, aged 22. At the time, he was engaged in landscaping work at a neighbor’s property.
A discussion escalated into aggression and ultimately became violent.
According to police reports, the incident culminated in Jackson shooting and killing Staggs.
Jackson’s attorney, Anthony VanNoy, asserted that they consider this situation to be a case of self-defense.
He remarked, “They referred to it as an ‘argument’ regarding certain matters, but in truth, it was merely a conversation, and he asked them to perform a task. Then, before he knew it, he was being attacked by someone with whom he had no prior conflict at all,” VanNoy stated.
