Canyon View Suicide – It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Maxwell Jordan Miller, a 14-year-old ninth grader at Canyon View Junior High, who tragically lost his life after reportedly taking his own life from a gunshot wound.
The heartbreaking incident occurred during the school’s visit to South Fork Park in Provo Canyon, according to local reports. Teachers and staff immediately acted to alert authorities and ensured other students were moved away from the area for safety. Deputies and medical teams responded swiftly, and Maxwell was flown to a nearby hospital. Despite every effort, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the loss in a statement, noting that no other students or staff were harmed in the incident.
Maxwell’s passing is an immeasurable loss to his family, friends, classmates, and the entire Canyon View Junior High community. He will be remembered for the light he brought to those around him and the bonds he shared with so many.
