Authorities confirmed that 19-year-old Shane Roberts McVey, a passenger in a Toyota 4Runner, died from injuries sustained in a collision with an 18-wheeler on Friday evening.
The accident occurred around 5:00 p.m. Friday along White Horse Road (Highway 25), near the intersection with SC 123, a busy stretch often congested with heavy traffic. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Toyota 4Runner, carrying five occupants, was heading north on White Horse Road when the driver attempted to make a turn west onto SC 123. At the same time, a tractor-trailer traveling south on White Horse Road struck the SUV, resulting in a violent collision.
Emergency responders from the Parker Fire District quickly arrived at the scene, where they found multiple injured occupants inside the Toyota. All five were rushed to local hospitals for treatment. The driver of the 18-wheeler was unharmed, officials said.
