The Union County Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of Darrell Sanders, a 28-year-old Newark resident, who was killed in Linden on the afternoon of September 27. Around 3:30 p.m., Linden Police officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Irene Street following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Sanders suffering from a single gunshot wound. Emergency medical teams quickly transported him to a local hospital, but despite their efforts, Sanders was pronounced dead.
The incident has shaken residents of Irene Street, who described the scene as chaotic and frightening.
