Jacob Jesus Hernandez Obituary, Death; – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the 15-year-old boy who was fatally shot in east Bakersfield as Jacob Jesus Hernandez, a resident of Bakersfield.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, on September 26, 2025, at approximately 11:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Highland Knolls Drive and Morning Drive following reports of a shooting.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered two teenage boys with apparent gunshot wounds in the 4200 block of Morning Drive. The victims, aged 16 and 15, were transported to a hospital, where the 15-year-old succumbed to his injuries.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased teen as Jacob Jesus Hernandez, 15, from Bakersfield. The 16-year-old victim suffered only minor injuries. Detectives have taken over the investigation.
