SUPPORT THE FAMILY – GOD BLESS YOU

The League of United Latin American Citizens reported that Miguel Ángel García-Hernández, aged 32, succumbed to his injuries after being taken off life support following the sniper attack on September 24 at the Dallas ICE facility.

This attack also resulted in the death of another detainee, Norlan Guzmán-Fuentes, aged 37, and left García-Hernández in critical condition. The third victim, Jose Andres Bordones-Molina, has since been discharged from the hospital, according to officials.

“My husband Miguel was a good man, a loving father, and the provider for our family,” stated García-Hernández’s wife, Stephany Gauffeny. “We had just purchased our first home together, and he worked diligently every day to ensure our children had everything they needed. His death is a senseless tragedy that has left our family devastated. I cannot find the words to explain to our children that their father is no longer with us.”

Miguel is survived by his wife, who is expecting their fifth child, and four young children, as reported by LULAC. The family had recently settled into their first home.

The shooting occurred last Wednesday when authorities reported that the shooter fired from the rooftop of a building across the street from an ICE enforcement operations facility located along Stemmons Freeway in Dallas.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a statement indicating that the shooter began firing “indiscriminately at the ICE building, including at a van in the sallyport,” which is a secure and gated entryway. The detainees were inside the van. Fortunately, no ICE personnel were harmed.
The shooter has been identified as Joshua Jahn, aged 29, from Fairview in Collin County. Jahn utilized a bolt-action rifle before taking his own life.

FBI Director Kash Patel shared a photo on social media depicting a bullet recovered from the scene with the words “ANTI-ICE” inscribed on it. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has mandated increased security at ICE facilities nationwide, as stated in a post by the DHS on the social media platform X.

The attack was the latest high-profile targeted killing in the U.S., coming two weeks after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was killed by a shooter on the roof of a building at Utah Valley University, and as heightened immigration enforcement has prompted backlash against ICE agents and fear in immigrant communities.
