Morgan Wright Obituary, Death; A Pollok woman died following a Monday wreck in downtown Lufkin, Lufkin police confirmed.
Morgan Wright, 40, had been taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle wreck around 1 p.m. Monday.
Wells ISD school attorney John Hardy confirmed Wright is the wife of Wells Superintendent Friday Wright. She was a speech pathologist at Lufkin ISD. Wright and her husband are parents of a 9-year-old and 5-year-old.
Lufkin police said at the time of the wreck that Trinity County law enforcement had reported a stolen truck was being driven by a 16-year-old and was possibly near the Lufkin mall on South First Street.
Lufkin police found the truck at the mall and began to follow it. The 16-year-old led police on a chase from the mall, north into downtown, police said.
As the pursuit continued, the truck entered downtown and headed down Third Street. At the intersection of Third Street and Frank Street, the stolen truck collided with a Ford Explorer traveling west on Frank Street, police said.
The 16-year-old was released from a Lufkin hospital, and charges are pending, police said at the time of the wreck.
