The local authorities have confirmed the identity of the person who passed away in the serious accident. Officials from the coroner’s office officially stated that the deceased is Derek Goins, a resident of McColl.

Emergency services were called to the Briar Patch Road area in the McColl neighborhood around 3 p.m. on Monday due to a severe collision. Law enforcement was involved, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol providing details.

According to the patrol, a pickup truck was going west on the road when it hit a train moving north at the crossing point. This resulted in the fatal incident.

Medical professionals on the scene declared Goins dead immediately after the event. The coroner, De’Aron Smith, gave the official statement.
