Justin Robert Fuller Obituary, Death; – The skydiving instructor who fell to his death Oct. 4 has been identified as Justin Robert Fuller, 35, of Murfreesboro.

The tragedy happened about 2 p.m. Oct. 4 after Fuller and his client jumped from an airplane flying out of John C. Tune Airport, the Nashville Police Department said.

“Fuller and a 46-year-old student became stuck on the side of the plane in a tandem rig,” police said. “Fuller became separated from the rig and fell from the sky.”

Fuller, after spending six seasons as an instructor with Skydive Tennessee, started working for Go Skydive Nashville two weeks ago, according to posts on his social media page.

Authorities still do not yet know how Fuller separated from the client. The The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate, according to police.

The accident launched multiple rescue personnel and two Metro Nashville Police helicopter crews to locate both men. The client was spotted first by a helicopter crew.

“The student’s emergency parachute deployed and he became lodged in a tree in the 4500 block of Ashland City Highway,” police said.
The Nashville Fire Department said the client was entangled about 50 to 60 feet in the air. Crews lashed together two ladders and a pulley system to save the man after several hours in the canopy. He was evaluated by a medic on scene and taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution, Nashville Fire Department spokesperson Kendra Loney said.
