Kaimir Jones Death: 2-Year-Old Kaimir Jones Killed in Valdosta Dog Attack at Alleged Unlicensed Daycare

Kaimir Jones Death – The Valdosta community is mourning the tragic death of 2-year-old Kaimir Jones, who was killed in a dog attack at a home allegedly operating as an unlicensed daycare.

On October 4, 2025, emergency responders, including Valdosta police officers, firefighters, and South Georgia Medical Services personnel, were dispatched to a residence in the 3800 block of Pecan Drive following reports of a dog attack. According to the Valdosta Police Department (VPD), by the time first responders arrived, Kaimir was already deceased.

Investigators say the child had been left at the home of 48-year-old Stacy Wheeler Cobb, who police believe was running an unlicensed daycare. Kaimir’s mother reportedly entrusted Cobb to watch over her son, but police say he was left unattended for more than two hours. Cobb later told authorities that she had taken a nap and believed the child was safe.

During the time he was alone, Kaimir gained access to the backyard and opened a kennel containing two large Rottweiler dogs. VPD stated that the dogs mauled the child, resulting in his death.

Cobb has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder (felony) and second-degree cruelty to children (felony). Police noted that while Kaimir was the only child at Cobb’s home at the time of the attack, she typically cares for around 10 children.

Lowndes County Animal Control took custody of the two Rottweilers involved, as well as a third dog that was present in the home.

“This is a horrible and tragic event that should have never occurred,” said Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan. “Because of negligence on this offender’s behalf, a mother has tragically lost a child. I want to express our department’s deepest sympathy to the family. No words will ever ease their pain, but our hearts go out to them during this unimaginably difficult time. I also keep our first responders in my prayers, as they continue processing their response to this tragic scene.”

Detectives with the Valdosta Police Department are continuing to process evidence from the scene, and authorities indicate that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation develops.

The incident has sparked concern in the Valdosta community about unlicensed daycare operations and child safety. Officials urge parents to carefully verify the licensing and supervision standards of childcare providers and to remain vigilant in ensuring children are never left unattended in potentially dangerous situations.

Kaimir Jones’ death marks a tragic reminder of the risks posed by unsecured animals and inadequate supervision, and the community continues to mourn the loss of the young child whose life ended far too soon.
