Jackine L Austin Obituary, Death; – A 45-year-old man has been identified as the victim who was killed when a large metal object crashed through his windshield while he was driving on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
Jackine L. Austin, aged 45, from the West Side of the city, was declared dead on Monday at 5:44 a.m., as reported by the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy is currently scheduled.
Austin was driving in the southbound express lanes of the Dan Ryan at 29th Street around 5:10 a.m. on Monday when the object struck the windshield of his gray GMC Yukon SUV, which had already collided with the concrete wall, according to state police.
It is believed that the metal object originated from a semi-trailer carrying an intermodal container, as stated by state police.
In the meantime, state police are urging anyone who was driving in the vicinity at the time of the incident, any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may possess dash camera footage of the event or footage from the area around the time of the crash, to reach out to ISP Special Agents at 847-608-3200.
